1. Website content is not medical advice
Articles, science pages, guides, and other content on kodo.health are for general education. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and they do not create a physician-patient relationship. Do not start, stop, or change any medication, supplement, or treatment based on this website. Talk with your own clinician about your situation.
2. Not emergency care
Kodo is not an emergency service. Do not use the portal, email, or messages for urgent or emergency needs. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Portal and email messages are not monitored around the clock.
3. When a physician-patient relationship begins
A physician-patient relationship with Kodo begins only after you enroll in a membership, complete intake, and accept the consent step at the end of intake. Browsing the website, creating an account, signing up for the newsletter, or emailing us does not create one.
4. Your location
You agree to confirm where you are physically located at each visit. If we cannot provide care at your location, we may need to reschedule.
5. Telehealth: what it is and its limits
- Visits are virtual. Care is delivered by secure video, phone, portal messages, and email.
- Limits. A virtual visit cannot include a hands-on physical exam. If your condition needs an in-person exam, testing, or treatment, we will refer you out.
- No emergency services. Telehealth visits and messages are not emergency services. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911.
- Technology can fail. Connections can drop and information can be delayed. If a visit is interrupted, we will try to reconnect or reschedule.
- Privacy. We use secure systems, but no electronic communication is risk-free. Our Notice of Privacy Practices and Privacy Policy explain how we protect your information.
- Your right to decline. You may decline telehealth at any time. Declining may mean we cannot provide a given service.
- Records. Telehealth visits and messages are documented in your medical record, which we keep as the law requires.
Your Kodo physician decides whether a prescription is appropriate; not every condition or medication can be treated or prescribed through telehealth, and controlled substances may require an in-person visit. You can see your physician’s name and credentials in your member portal before and during each visit.
6. Consent
You give telehealth consent with the first checkbox at the end of intake, together with the Terms of Service. This page summarizes what that consent covers; the intake consent controls if the two differ.
7. Not a replacement for primary care
Kodo does not replace your primary care clinician unless we tell you in writing that we will serve as your primary care provider.
